Gordon Gower is an accomplished concert flute, low whistle, and tin whistle player who has a deep reverence for the Sligo/Roscommon style of playing. A desert transplant for many years, the soft spoken young man from Leominster, Massachusetts has made a number of pilgrimages to Ireland to study and hone his craft. He has spent time studying with the likes of Clareman Eamonn Cotter, Belfast-born Marcus O'Murchu, and cutting-edge virtuosos from Dublin, Eamonn de Barra and Alan Doherty. In recent years, Gower has made stage appearances with Matt Molloy of The Chieftains, Liz Carroll and John Doyle, Martin Hayes and Dennis Cahill, Laurence Nugent, and All-Ireland Champion fiddler players Maire Egan and Sheila Maguire. In 2011, Gordon recorded his debut solo album, Between Friends, with All-Ireland finalist Zac Leger and the nationally recognized singer/producer Blake Pullen. Gower now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada and maintains a busy schedule teaching lessons and playing gigs across the southwest United States. |
